Monday : 4/20/98 - Sunday : 4/26/98 " Back to the "
It almost feels like everything is back to
normal , but I am still experiencing some pain . The swelling
has almost gone away and the scar is visible
, but not too bad . I am still having trouble lifting from the
ground up , but in any case I am still better
than I expected . I am currently at the 75 % mark right now
and I can do a lot more now . Things like
mowing the lawn and gardening are not so bad now .
I feel pretty good sitting in normal positions
, like at my desk , and standing hasn't been so bad .
I am still taking the Ultram " 2 - 100 MG
tablets " in the mid morning to afternoon , I would like to
see where I am currently , so I hold off from
taking it . I should go to 1 tablet a day , but I choose to
stay at this mode at least for another week
.
My softball practice turned out nice , I hit
a little more and jogged a bit but still no hard running .
I am probably going to play , but I am not
going to run the bases if I can avoid it . If I have to run
I am probably going to get out a bunch because
I am not going to push myself back to the hospital .
I feel good playing overall , and it is a
relief to get out and play again .
Driving has been ok for the most part , Not
very comfortable for long periods , like 3-4 hours , at a time.
My movements have been better overall and
bending over is still a problem . I cannot lift too much
at this point , and I would like to avoid
lifting heavy stuff from the ground . I have been using leverage
for just about everything . I have learned
to do things the right way and not use my back too often .
These are things I should of been doing for
a long time but was just too stubborn to do it .
The morning time is the worst time , like
always , because that's when I feel the most pain . I will
admit it is less than before the operation
, but in any case , still there is pain and it sucks .
Hopefully in the next few weeks this will
subside and my life will be much better !
I am fortunate at this point of the recovery
to be able to do the stuff I do and things are only getting
better . This is why I had the operation and
it has turned out great so far !
I received some E-Mail
from a concerned person about the condition of his wife , she is 21 years
old .
She unlike me has 2 disks gone and her husband
was concerned for her . I have recently sent them a
reply that I will eventually document on this
site !!! I have not done this yet because , I still want to get
permission to use the letters without the
names . I feel that it would answer a bunch of questions that
people might have !!!
If you have any questions or just need some
support , E-mail me and I will do my best to help in anyway
I can . This is a very complex subject with
lots of different views . The more research that you do the
better . Check
out some of the other links that I put on my page , they might help
!!!!!
So until next week !!
See ya ,
Craig
